Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will be welcomed by our company representative, who will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park, where you will view the spectacular scenery of the Virunga Mountains en route. Dinner and overnight stay at Kinigi Guest House / Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Virunga Lodge / Sabyinyo Silverback lodge.

Day 2: First Gorilla Tracking & Cultural /Nature Walk

Breakfast, then head to the park headquarters with a packed lunch and water for a briefing on the dos and don’ts for gorilla tracking, then proceed to track the gorillas. The time required to search for these Gentle giants ranges from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movement. In the evening, we can take a nature walk to the beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, or explore the Musanze caves for an extra payment. Dinner and overnight stay at your respective lodges on DAY 1.

Day 3: Second Gorilla Tracking/community walk

This is another chance to enjoy gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. You can choose to visit the same gorilla group or a different one. We can take an evening walk to the Musanze local market and interact with the locals. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking/ Dian Fossey Tombs Tour/ mt. Bishoke hike

After breakfast, you will either track the golden monkeys in the bamboo forest or go on an adventurous hike to the Dian Fossey Tombs, nestled between the beautiful peaks of Vishoke and Karisimbi. We also have Musanze caves exploration before driving back to Kigali. Return to the lodge for lunch and leave for Kigali. If you missed a city tour on DAY 1, we will do it here, including the Gisozi genocide memorial site and local art & craft shops, and do last-minute shopping before heading to the airport for your departure flight.
