Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda
Upon arrival at Kigali / Kanombe International Airport, our company representative (your driver-guide) shall warmly welcome you and transfer you to Hotel Gorillas or Serena Hotel Kigali, where you can relax with a massage for refreshment. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Kigali city tour, transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Morning breakfast is followed by a city tour of Kigali, visiting the Gisozi genocide memorial centre, local art and craft shops, and local markets. Later, after lunch, drive northwards through the majestic/undulating hills of Rwanda. It is a 2-hour drive from Kigali. Dinner and overnight at La Bambou Gorilla Lodge / Muhabura Hotel / Mountain gorilla view lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla Tracking & transfer to Bwindi N.P
Wake up early for a cup of tea/coffee, then assemble at the park headquarters for registration and a briefing on gorilla tracking in Rwanda. Group allocation follows, then proceed to the trekking start point. Gorilla tracking is a lifetime experience that takes you through thick, slippery jungle terrain in the Bamboo forests. The time ranges from 2 to 6 hours, depending on their movements. The thrilling encounter with a gorilla family, including its leaders (Silverback gorillas), is worth the effort. Sightseeing and staying with gorillas is for 1 hour of observation and photography.
Later, after lunch, cross the Cyanika border into Uganda through the Kigezi region (the Switzerland of Africa), then proceed to the Impenetrable forests of Bwindi National Park (3-4hrs). Dinner and overnight at Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge / Agandi Safari Lodge / Gorilla Mist Camp.
Day 4: Second gorilla trek Bwindi
This is the day for a second gorilla-tracking adventure, this time in Uganda’s southern Bwindi National Park. Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi (Uganda) is much more strenuous than Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda). The thrilling encounter with a gorilla family, including its leaders (Silverback gorillas), is worth the effort. Sightseeing and staying with gorillas is for 1 hour of observation and photography. Retire for a late lunch at the lodge; we can relax there or take an evening community walk to nearby villages or enjoy cultural entertainment. Dinner and overnight as on day 3.
Day 5: Drive back to Kigali
This is the last day of your trip in Rwanda and Uganda. After breakfast, hit the road back to Kigali through the Katuna border this time. This is a 4hr drive and offers beautiful scenic views. Proceed directly to the airport for your departure flight.
